" Presque chaque année un rassenblement important et cosmopolite d'artistes visitent Concarneau, mais l'intérêt réel est une petite colonie d'habitués qui ont travaillé là pendant de nombreuses années. Deux de ces " habitués " étaient Joseph Bulfield et Joseph Milner Kite, qui commencèrent à fréquenter Concarneau dans les années 1890 et peignirent des scènes animées de la vie bretonne, des pêcheurs, des femmes, des hommes chez le barbier. En 1896, l'artiste écossais Robert Brough fit une série de petites huiles et de pastels du port, et de jeunes filles au soleil, dans un style direct, impressionniste... Le début du vingtième siècle à Concarneau fut l'une des périodes les plus importantes pour les artistes britanniques en Bretagne. Une influence impressionniste lumineuse était évidente dans les scènes de marché au bord de l'eau, de Milner Kite et Macpherson, Terrick Williams, visiteur régulier s'est spécialisé dans les bateaux de pêche de la baie, observés à l'aube ou dans la lumière du soir. Aubrey Hunt, Gertrude Lake, et Herbert Hunt ont tous peint Concarneau. Une photographie montre ce dernier dans son atelier. En 1911, Concarneau inspira à Alfred Wolmark des images de femmes, des bateaux de pêche dans un style fauve simplifié et vibrant. David Sutherland peignit de nombreux tableaux à Concarneau dans les années 1920. "
