Helen Mabel Trevor étudie à la " Royal Academy " de Londres puis à Paris vers 1880 dans les ateliers de Carolus-Duran, Henner et Merson. Elle visite la Bretagne pour la première fois en 1881 et expose un tableau d'écoliers bretons à la " Royal Academy " de Londres. L'été 1882, elle voyage en Normandie, séjournant à Trouville, en Bretagne à Douarnenez et Pont-Aven...Elle fait une excursion à Pont-L'Abbé et Loctudy, au printemps 1883, elle est à Concarneau. Après six ans passés en Italie, les sœurs Trevor retournent à Paris en 1889. Helen étudie à nouveau chez Carolus-Duran. dans les années 1890 elle visite la Cornouailles britannique et revient en Bretagne et en Normandie. Elle passe l'hiver 1895-96 à Concarneau où elle est intéressée par la vie des pêcheurs, leurs coutumes et traditions. Elle continue à représenter des femmes âgées dans des intéreurs. Elle expose un petit nombre de sujets bretons à Dublin, Londres et Paris où elle reçoit une mention honorable au Salon de 1898. Une sélection de ses lettres, intitulées "Rambling of an artist'" est publiée en 1901, un an après sa mort. She first visited Brittany, in 1881, exibiting a painting of Breton schoolboys at the R.A, London. In sommer 1882, she travelled in Normandy and Brittany, staying at Trouville, Douarnenez, Pont-Aven...She made an excursion to Pont-l'Abbé and Loctudy, in spring 1883, she was in Concarneau. After six years spent in Italy The Trevor'sisters returned to Paris in 1889. Helen again studied with Carolus-Duran. In 1890's She visited Cornwall in England and return to Brittany and Normandy. She passed the winter of 1895-96 in Concarneau; Helen was interested in the live of Breton fishing people, their customs and traditions. She continued to depict elderly women in interiors. She exhibited a small number of Breton subjects In Dublin, London and Paris, receiving " honourable mention" in the Salon in 1898. A selection of her letters, entilted " Ramblings of an artist" were published in 1901, a year after her death. These include brief but lively impressions and pen-and-ink drawings, of her Breton Travels ". Julian Campbell.
